Tegucigalpa

Small but so full of conflict
Violence, lies and corruption
Poverty, hunger, and abuse

Under the mountain tops
Corruption is rooming through everything it cane
Violence is not hidden by the buildings
But propaganda through the streets
Fear in its people which chains opportunities
I believe it’s true I have lived it
The poorest of countries
The poorest of people
The hungriest of families
The looniest of children
The scarcest in education
And having answer so I turn once more to those who
Sneer at this my city, and I give them back the sneer
And say to them
Under the mountain tops
There are paradises appealing to the eye and soul
Nature blooms in its feet
While hard working people gather in their glory
And patriotism is smelled in its people.

Gathered hearts, and willing people
Observe its beauty and history
While enjoying its delicious gastronomy.
Small but so full of conflict
Violence, lies and corruption
Poverty, hunger, and abuse
Don’t judge when not seen both sides of the story I would say

vivid verbs

Claire staggered down the crowded hallway on this first day of school. She peeked to her left, and then to her right. Then, she advanced bashfully and reserved the throng of students. Was anyone inspecting her? Although she craved to stare around, she kept facing down. However, it was evident that none of her classmates glanced at her as they scurried to their classes.

just because im a child

Just because I’m a child
Doesn’t mean I don’t understand
Doesn’t mean I have no opinion
Doesn’t mean I do not notice what goes wrong
Just because I’m a child
Doesn’t mean I’m weak
Doesn’t mean I’m dumb
Doesn’t mean I’m scared
Just because I’m a child
Doesn’t mean I have to rely on my parents
Doesn’t mean I can live without them either
Doesn’t mean I can’t behave
Just because of I’m child
Doesn’t mean I’m happy all the time
Doesn’t mean I cry for everything
Doesn’t mean I can’t handle pain
Just because I’m a child
Doesn’t mean I can’t define wrong from right
Doesn’t mean I can be silenced
Doesn’t mean I value less.

Leader and Society Fairytale

It was in Nandos party that the pinata was filled with many candies. This was the beginning of the Pinilata city. It was inside this pinata that a young family of ladybugs fairies kind off species entered. Nandos party had been canceled because of the rainy weather and so the pinata has been abandoned. Other type of bugs entered but the lady bug family was in total control, being the first species to install in the Pinilata city. As more and more bugs came to live inside this land of goodies and sweets the more power the lady fairy dad had over the city. Everyone had its own house being a piece of candy. Animals started mating creating species never seen before like a dragonider or a floth the weirdest being the ckrisquito. The ladyfairy leader of the land and lord of the rest of the insects was sleeping inside his candy, the biggest piece of all Pinilata, when suddenly he heard a bunch of insects yelling outside his door. He saw through the window, surprised to see the whole streets filled with angry insects. They were protesting about the lack of food in Pinilata. The candy rappers were their home and the candies was now reducing. It was calculated by the cockroaches that the candy was going to disappear within only a month. So the lazy ladybug laid in his home ignoring the protest and eating a chocolate bar. He was selfish and gathered and steeled from the municipal mountain of food some candies to live for his entire life. So here occurred his first corrupt act. He stole form his society and was now a corrupt leader. The insects were angry but well he was the father of the city and the one who discovered all this delicious threats. This butterbee a strong young men had this idea to replace its ladyfairy leader. Everyone saw him as a lunatic, how can there be another leader, impossible. He began his campaign against their "father" by uttering speeches around the city. Slowly he began having followers who know refer to their leader as butterbee. Butterbee above all species was honest, intelligent, astute, and was an excellent problem solver. Ladyfairy was in the other hand lazy, selfish, ambitious, and very dishonest.  The terrifying trouble of the disappearance of food was still ignored by the leader of Pinilata. Butters bee’s idea was to invite all men to go outside of Pinilata, to the world they had come from and from which their ancestors had changed to the life of the city. It was outside that they would pick of food and seeds to grow inside the city to provide unlimited resources for the rest of the people living in Pinilata. The insect listen to him for the fact it was really the only truly option because the fathers plan was to sit and eat it in his giant candy. As the weeks passed butterbee and his followers became stronger and with its purpose of overthrowing lady fairy. Ladyfairy lazy and lost lived only licking his candies.  He was so dumb and lost that he had no idea what was being plotted outside his sugary walls. Butterbee finally went to accomplish his plan and succeeded to solve the cities food problem. All were now happy and satisfied but they did not know about another problem that was about to commence. Nando had seen the pinata abandoned in his garage and decided to have some fun breaking the pinata. So Nando grabbed a stick and took his first swing. BOOM the city shacked and the insects cried and screamed. Like always butterbee had a solution. They would exit trough an escape route at the bottom of the pinata with some of the candies that were still available. The evacuation of the entire city turned out excellent, everyone was safe outside except for four individuals. The ladyfairy day was busy eating a nerd rope while ladyfairy mom was biting a chewy starburst and the two ladyfairy children were playing with a bubaloo gum. The family was too selfish and self-centered to see what was happening in the city and Laughed when the pinata moved. The lack of intelligence made them predict the sacking was a rollercoaster ride. As all the insects were outside hidden in a near bush watching the spectacle and horror of the destruction of Pinilata they cheered and praised their new leader butterbee.

The Strange Traveler

That specific evening of October, was colder than usual; the trees moved from side to side from the fierce winds. I sat near the fireplace to stay warm. Being in a city on top of the mountain does not help with the cold weather either. That same night I hard some screams in the streets. I live near a very nice and big inn. I leaned toward the window to witness the screaming’s. I saw far away a man who by his shaggy and stumbling walking looked very tired. He had a knapsack at his back which made me know he was definitely a traveler.

He was not so clean and from even far away you could see he was cold as he shivered and hugged himself. I felt sorry for the poor man that I deduced had been kicked out from the inn and that’s what all the screaming was about. I saw him get closer to my house and when he was precisely in front of my garden I opened the door. I asked him if he wanted to come inside my house and have something to eat.  When he came closer I could see his fatigued face much clearer. His cloth was very dirty covered with dust and holes. His hair was messy and not so well shaved. I ignored everything that scared me of the man but felt pity and sympathy with his sad look. When I ask him if he would like dinner he rapidly without hesitated nodded. As we sat at the dinner table I was dying to know from where he came, and his name. It took him a while to speak he was heavily eating his food. After that he told me his name was Jean Valjean and was a criminal.

My heart almost stopped in that moment. I felt immobile and stupid for inviting a stranger to my house. I think Jean saw my face because he told me he understands if I wanted him to leave. I though about it but when I relaxed a little and saw this venerable eyes asking for a home, I insisted he stayed. I was still worried for having a criminal at my house but he later told me more about his story. He was somehow innocent but lived in complete injustice and poverty. He looked harmless and I felt good about myself and my good deed.

After eating two plates of food I directed him to his bed for the night. He looked so relived to lie in a bed. I ask him about how long was this journey that the idea of having bed looked new to him. I was surprised and sad to hear he had been sleeping in wood for about almost twenty years. This gave me another reason to be happy with myself and what I have done. I placed some clean cloths and went outside the door. When I headed toward my room I heard him cry. How troubled could he have been? What was going on in his live? At last he had a place to cry. He was so homeless and occupied solving his problems he forgot of his feelings.

The next morning he looked better. I gave him a big breakfast to cheer him up. I think I surely did, he looked so thankful and fresh, although he still needed a bath. I also provided him that and cloth from my husband that had passed away a year ago. He was now new and clean and went away through the same door he had entered but this time with a smile in his face.

Prayer at the Congress

Letter number 2 in the series of letters between Abigail Adams and his husband John Adams talks about prayers at the congress. John Adams tells Abigail the time were they first planned to read prayers as an inspiration and guidance. A problem aroused because they were all different religions but they ended reading a prayer. Mr. Jacob Duche an assistance rector of the Christian church was in charge of that role. They decided it was ok because he was a good gentlemen and no matter what religion each individual were, word of inspiration from a good gentleman would not hurt. After he read several prayers and ended with a psalm everyone was stunned. The presence the words became to every heart was as Mr. Adams mentions the best he ever heard. Not only the words but the emotion that were placed in them. John Adams tries to convince Abigail to read this psalm and to show it to her friends to increase the patriotism and try to make them feel what he felt in the congress. In this short but clear letter we find several examples of rhetorical devices being used.

"After this Mr. Duche, unexpected to everybody struck out into an extemporary prayer, which filed the bosom of every man present. I must confess I never heard a better prayer or one, so well pronounced. Episcopalian as he is, Dr. Cooper himself never prayed with such fervour, such Ardor, such Earnestness and Pathos and in language so elegant and sublime"(Adams 677)
- this quote is an example of appeal to emotion. Mr. Adams relies on giving what he felt and emotions he perceived to explain how well the prayer was. He states how the people were affected by it and the specialty this prayer highlighted that made it better than the others. He described the first prayer in the congress using emotions and feeling which connected the reader with the writer and created an imagery of the event.

"I must beg you to read that Psalm. If there was any Faith in the sortes Virgilianae, or sortes Homericae, or especially the sortes biblicae, it would be thought providential"(Adams 678)
- this quotes is using the rhetorical device of persuasion. He moves Abigail Adams to read the Psalm by the uniqueness of the prayer and the effect it will have. He tries to convince her to read this trough persuasion in his writing.

Blog #4 -Rebuting Patrick Henry-

Dear gentlemen while Patrick’s words seem so sweet, bitterness comes with all this. Shall he not speak his words? Of course he should, he has all the right to speak his opinion, but are they right? Gentleman Patrick wants war but can we afford war? Can we help seeing the many lives that are going to be lost? Will we suffer the price of war when we can’t afford to pay the consequences? You’re all mad and I agree but war is not the way to fix this, we can ask Britain for help and ask for representation and justice. Why die for something that can be handling through utter protest? Patrick states experience has helped him judge the future so why don’t you judge what happened with war. Foresee families left with no sons, a nation left with no people, and a militia destroyed in the field. War and violence is never the solution one should seek. With violence only more violence is obtained. Patrick tells us Britain is not hearing our petitions so why do they remove the acts we impose to follow? Why did they remove taxes when we protested? They are listening just that we need to shout louder. No not all solution is exhausted there is the choice of dialogue. Let’s speak to our fellow England and insist as much as we need but never fight. The war is coming but we need to stop it. Think of everything this will cause to America. We are young and inexperience while Great Britain has stronger armies more people and more experience. We will be defeated in fighting but we have more chance in winning with dialogue. He says god is with all of us and will be the greatest weapon. While god is the most powerful thing in the world he may accompany you but he will not fight for you. He is an image of peace and love why will he like violence between his people? Do not use him as a persuasion when god does not want this. He can be inside all your hearts, and if he is there he will bring love therefore no war. Patrick frequently restates we are being slaves but listen gentlemen is this really true? He repeats his liberty is being taken and he continually convinces England is deceiving all of you. We have protection from Britain in our land to keep us safe, and this you see beings slaves. Slaves are not taken care of, their prisoners. Liberty is granted because we can say what we like, we can protest toward Britain but not in the point of going against them. Is England really deceiving us or are we deceiving ourselves? We believe fighting and separating from Britain is what’s right. Listen to your hearts and ask yourself if war is your solution. We have hope and we can try harder. Let’s get in an agreement with Britain but separating from them will only make us week and venerable. We need their protection and they need us. Fighting leads to chaos and catastrophe and we do not need this. Peace is the right solution and for peace only dialogue is needed. So gentlemen of America, do you really think we are slaves, and do you think fighting with violence is the way we have to go to have justice? I believe many good words are stronger than swords and guns and I hope u feel it as well.
