blog #2 -captivity narative-

I woke up that morning, or afternoon, I could not tell in that small dark room. I was lying in the same smelly mat wearing the same dirty cloth and hearing the same voices of my kidnappers next door. I felt cold and alone and remembered the last moment I saw my parents . I think it has been 2 weeks since then but I stopped counting. Hours mixed with days and days mix up with weeks, every second became countless hours. I cried all day long and received loud shouting’s and threats because of it. I should have told the truth and that is something, which if I live, will never do again. That day I was supposed to be at a friend’s house watching movies but the party that was held close by was something we had to attend. Me and my friend headed toward it but the party was not the party we thought. Heading back home feeling uncomfortable around strangers, tripped into a gang of big tall men. My friend slipped through one of them and ran home while I was stuck in the middle of them. I felt so afraid I just wanted my parents to take me home. They grabbed me strongly from the arms and tucked me inside a red car. I was very scared and did not know what to do. They placed me inside this miniature room and sometimes hand me a bag of chips or cookies. I’m always hungry and thirsty but sometimes I’m too scared to eat. Since then I have not done anything but wait for something to happen. What I have done is hear the calls made to my parents and the men talk between them. Those cruel big men that force me to go with them. I hate this place and I hate those men. The more I’m here with no food, no cloth, no bed the more I appreciate everything I have. I even though ill never say this but I miss having homework, laying in my bed with air conditioner some candy and my mom yelling to go eat dinner with my father. I even miss my brother jumping in my bed and my sister always playing the music too loud. I miss home and everything about it , I really did not know how much I needed it until I stopped having it. How can these men be so cruel and selfish ,that all they care about is money? All they want from me is my parent’s money but they don’t realize they took something else from me and they gave me fear. As weeks became moths I started to know my kidnappers better. I realized they had families too and one I remember had 5 daughters. As time passed they were not as mean as my head had made them. They are not the best people they can be but they have reasons. They were in trouble and this was their way to fix it. I found out they weren’t heartless men just lost ones. They could not feed their families or enroll them to school so they went extreme measures. This was not the best way to fix their problem but it was the only one they knew. I once heard one of them cry in the phone because one of her daughters died from a sickness he could not pay to cure. I even felt sorry for the men that made me be here. Finally a day different from the rest, in a long time I saw light. Even though my hands were tied up I felt good. They tucked me in the same red car and I heard the engines running. My head was spinning with questions, should I cry or smile? Will I be rescued or murdered? The long trip ended in the park I think because I heard kids screaming and could feel the smell of nature. Before getting out of the car they untied me and left me in one of the benches. They just drove off and that was the last time I saw of them. I started walking toward were I remembered my house was and as I opened the green door I saw the face of my mother and father in the living room. I ran too them and gave them the longest hug I can remember I then cried, I was finally home. Later they explained to me that they left money in a location the kidnappers described but they were not sure that they would give me back to them. I was so happy I was here and that night at dinner it became the best meal in a long time. What more could I ask I was with my family eating delicious food at my home and feeling warm. I felt not angry or scared because of those men anymore but somehow I understood them. There was something I can’t explain that made me feel happy they received that money. Maybe no more of their children will die because they know had the money they needed. They needed the money more than my family did. I still believe they did wrong but I believe in the good inside them. They went the other way but because of greater situations that they were ignorant of not knowing to handle. So I slept that night thinking of them and praying for their souls. Praying for them to find the right path and to uncover their goodness. That was the best night I can remember, the night I came back home.
